Coming Together to Raise Achievement: New Assessments for the Common Core State Standards
The Center for K-12 Assessment & Performance Management at ETS offers this updated guide that describes and illustrates the assessment designs and related activities being launched by the five federally funded State Assessment Consortia. The guide is intended to spark dialogue about K-12 assessment and measurement to benefit high-quality teaching and student learning among and within states and education stakeholders.
The five assessment development initiatives include two comprehensive assessment consortia: the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium; two alternate assessment consortia: the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Consortium and the National Center and State Collaborative (NCSC) Consortium; and an English Language Proficiency (ELP) Assessment C.
Beyond Common Core State Standards in English/language arts and mathematics, DC has adopted these rigorous content-area learning standards and guides for arts, early learning, health and physical education, science, social studies, technology and world language.
